New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday received a telephone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which the Russian leader shared his assessment of his recent meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska.
While thanking President Putin for the update, Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s consistent position that the Ukraine conflict must be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue. He emphasized that India supports all genuine efforts aimed at achieving peace.
The two leaders also reviewed aspects of bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia. Both agreed to remain in regular contact.
Following the conversation, Prime Minister Modi posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Thank my friend, President Putin, for his phone call and for sharing insights on his recent meeting with President Trump in Alaska. India has consistently called for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict and supports all efforts in this regard. I look forward to our continued exchanges in the days to come.”
