Haryana: Police have taken three youths into custody following an encounter in connection with firing incidents reported at a private hospital and a shopping complex in the state, officials said on Sunday.
According to the police, the accused allegedly opened fire late Saturday night at the reception area of a privately run hospital and later fired shots outside a nearby shopping mall. Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were reported in either incident.
Security agencies believe the shooting was carried out to spread panic among the public. However, investigators have not ruled out other motives, including possible attempts at extortion, and are examining all angles.
After receiving information, police teams launched a search operation that led to an encounter, following which the three suspects were apprehended. Weapons believed to have been used in the firing were also recovered, officials added.
A case has been registered, and further questioning of the accused is underway to ascertain their intent and whether they are linked to any criminal network. Police said additional details will emerge as the investigation progresses.
