Mohali (Punjab): Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia appeared before a court in Mohali on Friday, where arguments were heard from both sides in the ongoing matter. The court has scheduled the next hearing for March 7, 2026.

Addressing the media after the proceedings, Majithia made serious allegations against the Punjab government, accusing it of infringing upon his personal security and fundamental rights during his time in judicial custody. He claimed that his privacy was deliberately compromised, alleging that surveillance cameras were installed around him, including inside the bathroom area, and were removed only after the High Court intervened.

Majithia alleged that these measures were taken to intimidate him and prevent him from speaking out against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He further claimed that he was denied access to copies of legal documents that were provided to him earlier in the day.

Stepping up his attack on the state leadership, the Akali Dal leader said the Chief Minister had failed to deliver on governance and accountability, and demanded his resignation.

Commenting on the recent visit of teams from the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) and the Central Water Commission to Punjab, Majithia reiterated that the state alone holds rights over its water resources. He said the presence of central agencies reflected the government’s inability to safeguard Punjab’s interests.

The court will take up the matter again on March 7, 2026, as the legal proceedings continue.
