Amritsar (Punjab): The Amritsar Commissionerate Police have dismantled a narco-arms smuggling network with cross-border links to Pakistan, arresting four people and recovering heroin, illegal firearms and cash believed to be drug proceeds.

Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the accused were in direct contact with Pakistan-based smugglers through social media and were involved in receiving consignments of narcotics and weapons sent across the international border using drones. The recovered items include 1.5 kg of heroin, ₹1.98 lakh in suspected drug money, two pistols and cartridges bearing markings of the Pakistan Ordnance Factory.

The arrested men have been identified as Jaskinder Singh alias Sikander, Harpal Singh, Gurmukh Singh and Sukhdeep Singh, all residents of village Ranian in Amritsar district. Police seized one 9 mm pistol, one .30 bore pistol and 34 live cartridges during the operation.

Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the action was taken following specific intelligence inputs. He added that while cash and cartridges were recovered during the raid, the heroin and firearms were seized based on the disclosure statements of the accused.

Police also revealed that the four accused are closely related and belong to the same extended family. Harpal Singh and Gurmukh Singh are brothers, while Jaskinder Singh alias Sikander and Sukhdeep Singh are their nephews. The accused, aged between 19 and 33 years, do not have any previous criminal record.

Authorities said further investigation is underway to identify both forward and backward linkages of the smuggling network operating across Punjab. In this regard, FIR No. 11 dated January 22, 2026, has been registered under Section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Civil Lines, Amritsar.
