Heavy Snowfall Forces Major Flight Disruptions at Srinagar Airport

Srinagar: Air traffic at Srinagar International Airport remained severely affected on Tuesday as persistent snowfall across the Kashmir Valley led to widespread cancellation of flights, officials confirmed. Adverse weather conditions made aircraft operations unsafe, prompting airlines to suspend most scheduled services for the day.

According to the Airport Authority of India, nearly 50 flights were called off, including 25 arrivals and 25 departures. Snowfall continued through the day, further complicating runway operations and reducing visibility. Airport officials indicated that additional flights slated to land later were also unlikely to operate if weather conditions failed to improve.

Travelers were advised to remain in close contact with their respective airlines to receive real-time updates and explore alternative travel options. The sudden disruption has caused inconvenience to hundreds of passengers, particularly tourists who had planned to return after spending the weekend and the Republic Day holiday in the region.

Authorities said flight operations would resume only after weather conditions stabilize and safety checks are completed, while efforts are ongoing to clear the runway and monitor conditions.
