Chandigarh– Punjab Police carried out coordinated raids at 301 locations on Saturday, arresting 38 drug smugglers and registering 28 FIRs as part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh.” With these arrests, the total number of smugglers held since the campaign began has risen to 25,909 in 168 days.

During the latest operation, police recovered 620 grams of heroin and 1,612 intoxicant tablets and capsules from the accused. The raids were conducted under the supervision of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, across all 28 police districts of the state.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has repeatedly stressed the government’s determination to make Punjab a drug-free state. A five-member Cabinet Sub-Committee led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema continues to monitor the progress of the campaign.

Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla shared that over 100 police teams, comprising more than 900 personnel and supervised by 70 gazetted officers, carried out the state-wide raids. Police also checked 316 suspicious persons during the day-long drive.

As part of the government’s three-pronged strategy of Enforcement, Deaddiction, and Prevention (EDP), police officers convinced 33 individuals to undergo treatment for de-addiction and rehabilitation on Saturday.

The Punjab Police reaffirmed its commitment to intensify operations until the drug menace is fully eradicated from the state.
