Karnal (Haryana): Actor Mouni Roy, who has carved her way from television to Bollywood through years of hard work, recently spoke out about an unpleasant experience at a public event in Karnal, Haryana. The actor expressed her anger and distress through a detailed note shared on her Instagram story, recalling what she described as inappropriate behavior by members of the audience.
In her post, Mouni said the incident took place during a recent event in Karnal, where she felt deeply disturbed by the conduct of some attendees, including elderly men. She wrote that as she approached the stage, the situation quickly became uncomfortable.
According to the actor, several men standing near the stage placed their hands on her waist while posing for photographs. She said she immediately objected and asked them to remove their hands, but her protest was not well received.
Mouni further alleged that the situation worsened once she was on stage. She claimed that two men stood in front of her making obscene gestures, using vulgar language, and verbally harassing her. She initially tried to signal them politely to stop, but instead, they began throwing roses at her, she said.
The actor revealed that at one point she attempted to leave the event midway due to the continued harassment. However, she returned and completed her performance despite the discomfort. She added that the objectionable behavior did not stop, and neither family members nor event organizers intervened to remove the men from the venue.
Mouni also pointed out that the stage was elevated and that one of the men continued filming her from below. When others tried to stop him, he allegedly responded with abuse.
Expressing her anguish, Mouni said she felt humiliated and shocked by the incident and urged authorities to take action against such unacceptable behavior. She emphasized that artists earn their livelihood with dignity through their work and questioned how such men would react if similar behavior were directed at their own daughters, sisters, or family members.
The actor concluded her note by stating that while she loves her country, its people, and its traditions, incidents like these reflect misplaced entitlement and toxic arrogance that must be confronted.
