Chandigarh: In view of dense fog and unfavourable weather conditions across the state, the Punjab government has revised the timings of all schools. The new schedule will be effective from January 16 to January 21, 2026, officials said.

According to the revised order, all schools in Punjab will start at 10:00 am during this period to ensure the safety of students amid low visibility conditions.

Under the updated timings, primary schools will function from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, while middle, high and senior secondary schools will remain open from 10:00 am to 3:20 pm.

The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to minimise risks for students commuting during early morning hours when fog conditions are most severe. Authorities have advised school administrations to strictly follow the revised schedule until further instructions.
