Ludhiana/Fatehgarh Sahib: A fresh wave of bomb threats targeting district courts in Punjab has caused widespread panic, with Ludhiana and Fatehgarh Sahib courts being the latest to receive such threats. Following the alerts, police and security agencies swung into action and evacuated the court complexes as a precautionary measure.
All entry points to the court premises were sealed, and authorities strictly instructed the public not to enter the complexes until further notice. Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS), dog squads, and other specialised teams were deployed to conduct thorough searches of the premises to rule out the presence of any explosive material or suspicious objects.
The repeated threats, especially ahead of Republic Day, have heightened concerns among lawyers, court staff, and the general public. In Ludhiana, the Bar Association also advised members of the legal fraternity to avoid entering the court complex until the situation is declared safe by the authorities.
Senior police officials said investigations are underway to trace the origin of the threats and determine whether they are hoaxes or part of a larger conspiracy. Security agencies remain on high alert, and surveillance has been intensified to ensure public safety.
The administration has urged citizens to remain calm and refrain from spreading or believing rumours. Normal court functioning is expected to resume only after security agencies complete their checks and give clearance.
