Chandigarh: Chandigarh school students are set to enjoy an extended break this month, thanks to a newly declared holiday. Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria has announced that all schools in the Union Territory, including Government, Government-Aided, and Private institutions, will remain closed on Monday, August 18.

This unexpected closure effectively turns the mid-August calendar into a long weekend for students. With Independence Day on Friday, August 15, followed by Janmashtami on Saturday, August 16, Sunday on August 17, and now the added holiday on August 18, students will enjoy four consecutive days away from classrooms.

The announcement has brought cheer to students and parents alike, offering families extra time for celebrations, travel, or simply a relaxed break before regular academic schedules resume.
