Delhi: A tragic fire in northwest Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar area claimed the lives of three members of a family in the early hours of Tuesday, officials from the Delhi Fire Services said.
The incident occurred in residential quarters belonging to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The victims were identified as Ajay Kumar, 42, his wife Neelam, 38, and their 10-year-old daughter, Jahnvi.
Fire officials said they received an emergency call at around 2.39 am reporting a blaze on the fifth floor of the building. Multiple fire engines were immediately dispatched, and five fire tenders reached the location to control the flames.
Despite efforts by rescue teams, the couple and their child could not be saved. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, and authorities are expected to conduct a detailed investigation to determine how it started.
Police and fire department officials said further information will be shared once preliminary inquiries and post-mortem examinations are completed.
