Mohali (Punjab): Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia will remain in judicial custody for at least another day, as the court reserved its decision on his bail plea in a disproportionate assets case. The development came after over two hours of intense arguments on Wednesday between Majithia’s counsel and the state prosecution.

Majithia’s wife, Ganieve Kaur Majithia, attended the hearing, which saw detailed submissions from both sides. The judge instructed the legal teams to wrap up their arguments by Thursday to facilitate a verdict.

Majithia, arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau on June 25 from his Amritsar residence, has been lodged in Nabha Jail since then. He has repeatedly alleged that his arrest is part of a “political conspiracy.”

With the court set to announce its decision on Thursday, the case continues to draw public and political attention.
