New Delhi— Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said he was deeply concerned by reports suggesting that the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin was targeted, and urged all parties involved in the Russia-Ukraine conflict to prioritise diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing hostilities.

In a post shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said such developments were worrying and stressed that diplomacy remains the most effective route to restore peace. His remarks came after Russia claimed that a large-scale drone attack had been attempted on the Russian President’s country residence.

According to Russian authorities, as many as 91 long-range Ukrainian drones were launched on Monday towards President Putin’s residence located in the Novgorod region, north of Moscow. Moscow alleged that the attack was thwarted before causing damage, though the claims could not be independently verified.

Emphasising the importance of restraint, Modi said sustained diplomatic engagement offered the most viable path to resolving the conflict. He called on all concerned sides to remain committed to dialogue and avoid actions that could derail ongoing peace efforts, underscoring India’s consistent position in favour of dialogue and de-escalation amid the prolonged war.
