Islamabad: A brief video clip featuring a Pakistani police officer has set off a wave of reactions online, with social media users divided over whether the incident reflects professional efficiency or a staged moment designed for attention.

The clip shows Assistant Superintendent of Police Shehrbano Naqvi, posted in Lahore, participating in a podcast when she receives a phone call mid-conversation. On camera, she informs the host that she has been alerted to a murder case and must leave immediately to attend to the situation. The recording is paused as she steps away.

Roughly an hour later, Naqvi returns to the podcast and provides details of the incident, stating that the case involved a killing in Defence Phase A, K Block. She explained that the victim and the accused were acquaintances and that the crime was allegedly linked to a monetary dispute that escalated into violence.

According to her account, police were alerted by the accused’s relatives, leading officers to reach the location quickly. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene, while several people—including a child who was reportedly inside the house—were safely rescued. Naqvi added that the victim had already succumbed to injuries before police arrived, and the body was found in the drawing room.

While the officer’s narration of events drew admiration from some viewers for highlighting prompt police action, others expressed skepticism. Critics questioned how a serious criminal case could be addressed so swiftly, accusing the podcast segment of being scripted or exaggerated for dramatic effect.

Supporters, however, argued that the clip showcased the unpredictable nature of police work and praised Naqvi for balancing public engagement with professional responsibility. Some users also pointed out that initial arrests and securing a crime scene can happen quickly, even if investigations continue much longer behind the scenes.

The viral moment has since turned into a broader discussion online about the portrayal of law enforcement on digital platforms, with opinions sharply split between praise for efficiency and doubts over authenticity.
