New Delhi: India’s love affair with food continued unabated in 2025, with biryani once again emerging as the most ordered dish on Swiggy, according to the food delivery platform’s annual consumption report released on Tuesday.
The findings are part of the 10th edition of Swiggy’s flagship report, How India Swiggy’d, which offers a snapshot of ordering trends based on millions of transactions made on the app over the year. The data shows that biryani maintained its dominance, clocking a staggering 93 million orders nationwide.
Fast food staples followed close behind. Burgers recorded 44.2 million orders, pizzas accounted for 40.1 million, while dosas continued to be a popular choice with 26.2 million orders, reflecting a blend of comfort food preferences and regional favourites.
The report also highlighted a growing interest in local and lesser-known cuisines. Demand for Pahari dishes surged sharply, registering a nine-fold increase over the year. Other regional cuisines, including Malabari, Rajasthani and Malvani, nearly doubled their order volumes, pointing to a shift towards hyperlocal flavours.
Meal timing data revealed that evenings remained the busiest period for food delivery, with dinner orders exceeding lunch orders by nearly 32 per cent.
Alongside Indian fare, global cuisines continued to find favour with customers. Mexican food saw around 16 million orders, Tibetan cuisine crossed 12 million, and Korean dishes attracted close to 4.7 million orders, underlining the expanding palate of Indian consumers.
Swiggy said the trends reflect evolving food habits, where convenience, familiarity and curiosity for new flavours are shaping how India eats.
