New Delhi: Former Congress Member of Parliament Sajjan Kumar was produced before Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Monday in connection with a case stemming from the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
The matter pertains to an FIR registered at the Janakpuri and Vikaspuri police stations, relating to incidents of violence and killings that followed the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1984. The case is among several prosecutions linked to the communal unrest that swept parts of the national capital during that period.
After hearing submissions from both sides, the court reserved its order and announced that the verdict will be delivered on January 22.
The proceedings are part of ongoing legal efforts to address alleged crimes committed during the riots, which had severely impacted Sikh families in areas including Janakpuri and Vikaspuri. Sajjan Kumar has faced multiple cases over the years in connection with the violence.
