Gurdaspur: Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner Dalwinderjeet Singh on Tuesday reassured residents that there is no threat of flooding from the Beas or Ravi rivers, dismissing circulating rumours about damage to the Dhussi Bund near Jagatpur Tanda village.

“The Dhussi Bund is completely safe and strong. There is absolutely no need for panic,” the DC said, clarifying that both rivers are currently flowing within safe limits.

He noted that the portion of the bund damaged in 2023 has been fully repaired and further reinforced by the Punjab government. Singh added that the water level visible in the river is part of its normal flow, and nearby populated areas remain safe.

“The district administration is fully alert, and timely information will be issued if excess water is released into the rivers,” he said.

Authorities have advised residents to avoid going beyond the Dhussi Bund and provided flood control room helpline numbers for assistance:
