Chandigarh: Bathinda is set to receive a major boost in water supply under the Mann Government’s Jal Jeevan Mission, with ₹26 crore invested through the AMRUT 2.0 scheme. The project is designed not just to lay pipelines, but to ensure continuous and clean water supply to residents, reflecting the government’s commitment to fulfilling the basic needs of every citizen. This investment highlights the Mann Government’s focus on sustainable urban infrastructure and public welfare.

Mayor Padamjeet Singh Mehta laid the foundation stone for the water supply system in Amarpura Basti, stating that two new water tanks will be constructed—one in Amarpura Basti and another in Model Town Phase 4-5—with a capacity of 2 lakh gallons each. A total of 63,000 meters of pipeline will be laid, providing new connections to around 8,600 households and directly benefiting nearly 35,000 people who previously faced water shortages.

The project is expected to have significant health benefits for the city. By providing clean water, the scheme will help reduce waterborne diseases such as dysentery and typhoid, improving overall public health. The investment also ensures long-term sustainable water distribution, making Bathinda a water-secure city for generations to come.

Mayor Mehta emphasized that this initiative demonstrates the Mann Government’s dedication to addressing citizen needs and strengthening infrastructure across Punjab. The ₹26 crore project is not just an administrative effort but a step towards building public trust, improving quality of life, and ensuring that Bathinda becomes a model for clean, reliable water supply in the state.
