Dubai: India registered a dominant 90-run victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in a Group Stage match of the Under-19 Asia Cup played in Dubai on Sunday, producing a strong all-round performance to seal the contest comfortably.

Chasing a revised target of 241 runs, Pakistan were bowled out for 150 in 41.2 overs. Hujefa Ahsan top-scored for Pakistan with a fighting 70, but lacked support from the rest of the batting line-up as Indian bowlers struck at regular intervals to keep the pressure intact.

India’s bowling attack was led by Divesh Devendran and Kanishk Chauhan, who claimed three wickets each. Kiran Singh picked up two wickets, while Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Khilan Patel contributed with one wicket apiece to dismantle Pakistan’s chase.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and opted to field first in a match reduced to 49 overs per side due to rain. India posted a competitive total of 240 runs, riding on a solid 85-run knock by Aaron Jones. Kanishk Chauhan added 46 runs, while captain Ayush Mhatre chipped in with 38 to steady the innings. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had scored a century in the previous match, was dismissed early this time for just five runs.

Despite brief resistance, Pakistan failed to sustain momentum in the chase, allowing India to cruise to a convincing win and strengthen their position in the tournament.
