Dense Fog Triggers Multiple Vehicle Collisions Across Haryana

Haryana: Thick fog continued to disrupt road travel in Haryana on Sunday, leading to a series of collisions involving buses, trucks and private vehicles at different locations in the state. Poor visibility during the early morning hours was cited as the primary cause of the accidents.

One of the major incidents occurred in Hisar district at Dhiktana Moda on National Highway 52 around 8 am. According to officials, a Kaithal roadways bus rammed into a dumper truck, triggering a chain reaction. A second state transport bus that was moving behind the vehicles crashed into them, followed by a car and a motorcycle, resulting in a large pile-up.

Despite the number of vehicles involved, most passengers escaped unhurt. Authorities said the only reported injury was to a motorcycle rider, who was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

A separate accident was reported from Rewari district on National Highway 352, where three to four buses collided after visibility dropped sharply due to fog. Several people sustained injuries in the crash and were taken to nearby hospitals. Their condition was reported to be stable.

Haryana has been gripped by a severe cold wave over the past few days, with minimum temperatures ranging between 4 and 6 degrees Celsius in many districts. The India Meteorological Department had earlier issued a cold wave warning for the state, cautioning motorists about dangerous driving conditions caused by dense fog.

The weather department has advised commuters to avoid high speeds, use low-beam headlights and maintain adequate distance between vehicles while travelling in fog-prone areas.

Similar incidents have been reported in the region in recent days. On Saturday, more than a dozen vehicles were involved in a collision on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, also known as the Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal Expressway, highlighting the growing risks on highways amid persistent winter fog across northern India.
