Chandigarh: The Meteorological Department has predicted rainfall in several parts of Punjab today, accompanied by a yellow alert for certain regions. While showers are expected across various districts, the most significant impact will likely be felt in areas bordering Himachal Pradesh. (Punjab Weather Update)
On Friday, only a few locations in the state experienced light rainfall, which contributed to a slight drop in average temperatures. Officials anticipate another spell of showers to begin from August 14, following a brief lull after today.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Chandigarh, the state’s maximum temperature has dipped by an average of 1.6°C, though it remains close to normal for this time of year. The highest temperature recorded yesterday was 36.8°C in Abohar. Chandigarh saw a high of 33.1°C, Amritsar 35.4°C, Ludhiana 33.0°C, Patiala 31.8°C, Gurdaspur 33.5°C, and Bathinda 36.6°C.
In terms of rainfall, Ludhiana registered 1.2 mm, Patiala and Hoshiarpur each received 0.5 mm, while other areas recorded minimal or no precipitation.
Punjab Weather Update:
The yellow alert issued for today covers northern and central districts including Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, and Mohali, where heavy rainfall is possible. From August 11 to 13, weather conditions are expected to remain stable across Punjab, with no warnings in place. However, the department has issued another yellow alert starting August 14, signalling a reactivation of the monsoon.
