Punjab Announces Key Dates for Zila Parishad and Block Samiti Elections

Chandigarh: The Punjab State Election Commission on Friday released the full schedule for the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections, confirming that polling will take place on December 14, 2025, while results will be declared on December 17. State Election Commissioner Kamal Chaudhary shared the timeline and key preparations during the official briefing.

Polling will be conducted through ballot papers, and voting hours have been set from 8 am to 4 pm across the state. Nearly 1.36 crore voters are eligible to cast their ballots in these rural local body elections.

The Commission has laid out the following timeline for candidates: nominations will be accepted from December 1 to December 4 between 11 am and 3 pm, scrutiny will take place on December 5, and the last date for withdrawal is December 6 until 3 pm.

Half of all seats have been reserved for women to boost their participation in local governance. To ensure a smooth and secure voting process, approximately 50,000 police personnel will be deployed across Punjab.
