Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir: A fierce encounter broke out early Sunday in the Dul area of Kishtwar district after security forces tracked down two suspected militants hiding in the hilly terrain.

According to official inputs, the operation was launched following specific intelligence about the movement of armed militants in the region. As the search teams advanced, the suspects opened fire, prompting an immediate retaliatory response from the security personnel.

The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed the development on social media, stating, “Alert troops, acting on credible intelligence, established contact with terrorists in Dul, Kishtwar, in the early hours of August 10. Exchange of fire is underway. The operation is ongoing.”

The joint mission—carried out by the Army and other security agencies—has successfully cornered the two armed men, limiting their movement and sealing possible escape routes. Authorities have also tightened security in the surrounding areas to safeguard civilians and prevent any breakout attempt.

Kishtwar, with its challenging mountainous terrain, has seen sporadic militant activity in recent years. Security forces continue to maintain a heightened presence to curb such threats and restore a sense of normalcy in the sensitive district.

As of the latest update, the operation remains active, with ground teams pushing to bring the situation under complete control.
