Faridkot — Police in Faridkot have swiftly solved a highly sensitive case from village Jalalaeana, where two women allegedly tore sacred pages of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji during a fight. Both accused were arrested within hours, DSP (Sub-Division) Kotkapura Sanjeev Kumar confirmed. The women have been identified as Kuldeep Kaur, wife of Jugraj Singh, and Veeran Kaur, wife of Harpal Singh — both residents of the same village.

According to officials, police received information that the two women entered the village gurdwara while arguing with each other. In the heat of the moment, they allegedly struck the holy scripture with force, causing the rumala sahib and the khalsa teer placed on top to fall onto the floor. The incident resulted in the tearing of five sacred angs (pages) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

Based on the statement of Jagwinder Singh, who was present at the gurdwara, police registered FIR No. 233 dated November 26, 2025, under Sections 299 and 3(5) of the BNS at Sadar Kotkapura police station. Acting promptly, police teams traced and arrested both accused women within a few hours.

During initial questioning, the women claimed that the incident happened unintentionally in the middle of a heated argument over personal matters. DSP Kotkapura said the sensitive nature of the case required immediate and careful handling, and both women have now been booked as per legal procedure. Faridkot Police confirmed they are in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
