Mumbai: Mumbai Police have saved a five-year-old girl who was kidnapped from Vakola in Santacruz (East) and trafficked by her own relatives. The child’s maternal uncle and aunt allegedly abducted her around midnight and sold her for ₹90,000. Investigators later discovered that the first buyer resold her to another person for ₹1.8 lakh.

After the child’s mother filed a complaint, Vakola Police Station launched a swift investigation. Officers traced the girl’s movement and located her in Panvel. A police team reached the spot, rescued her on November 25, and brought her safely back to Mumbai.

A police officer was seen offering chocolates to comfort the child before reuniting her with her mother. Mumbai Police later confirmed on social media that five people linked to the kidnapping and trafficking chain have been arrested.
