Rohtak/Bahadurgarh: In two tragic and unrelated incidents, two Class X students lost their lives after basketball poles reportedly collapsed on them during practice sessions in Bahadurgarh and Rohtak. The deceased have been identified as Aman (15) from Bahadurgarh and Hardik (16) from Lakhan Majra, Rohtak.

The first incident occurred on Sunday in Bahadurgarh, where Aman had gone to a local stadium for his basketball practice. According to officials, the pole suddenly gave way and fell on him. He was immediately rushed to the civil hospital and later referred to PGIMS Rohtak. Despite efforts to save him, Aman succumbed to his injuries on Monday night. His last rites were performed on Tuesday.

The second incident unfolded on Tuesday in Lakhan Majra, Rohtak. Hardik, who had represented his district in the sub-junior national championship, reportedly attempted to touch the basket when the pole snapped and crashed onto him. Other young players rushed to rescue him and managed to lift the pole, but Hardik was declared dead at a nearby hospital. CCTV footage from the court captured the horrific moment.

Both incidents have sent shockwaves through Rohtak, Bahadurgarh and the wider Haryana sports community, prompting questions over the safety of sports infrastructure in local stadiums. Families, students and sports enthusiasts across the state have expressed grief and outrage over the loss of two promising young athletes.
