SRI ANANDPUR SAHIB: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced a significant initiative on Tuesday, declaring the launch of free public transportation services within the three cities recently granted “Holy City” status by the Punjab Vidhan Sabha: Sri Amritsar Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib, and Talwandi Sabo.
The service will utilize complimentary mini-buses and e-rickshaws to move devotees and residents across these historically and religiously significant towns. The initiative’s primary goal is to ensure convenient and hassle-free access to major shrines and key pilgrim destinations within the city limits.
Speaking from Sri Anandpur Sahib, CM Mann emphasized that this move underscores the government’s commitment to providing enhanced public amenities, improving local accessibility, and easing the movement of the large number of devotees who visit these sacred locations. This announcement closely follows the official declaration of these three cities as ‘Holy Cities,’ which includes regulatory prohibitions on the sale and consumption of meat, liquor, and tobacco within their core areas.
