Batala, Punjab — A vigilance team carried out a late-night raid at the official residence of Batala SDM Vikramjit Singh, questioning him for nearly three hours before taking him away for further investigation. The operation, conducted under strict secrecy, began around 9 pm on Thursday and continued past midnight.

Officials entered the SDM’s residence discreetly, with only Batala police present at the spot. The team searched the house thoroughly and questioned the SDM until about 12:30 am. After the interrogation, officers escorted him to their vehicle without responding to any questions from the media.

Before leaving, the vigilance team sealed the SDM’s government accommodation. Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the case or the allegations prompting the raid. While unconfirmed sources claimed that a significant amount of cash was recovered from the premises, vigilance officials have not verified this information.

The sudden and confidential nature of the operation has raised concerns within the administrative circles of Batala. No official statement has been issued yet regarding whether the SDM has been formally detained.
