Nabha: A major fire broke out at the Tanishq Furniture Factory near the Rohati Bridge in Nabha, causing extensive damage to the showroom and warehouse. The flames, suspected to have been triggered by an electrical short circuit, spread rapidly and engulfed the entire premises within minutes.
The fire was so intense that four fire brigade vehicles were rushed to the spot. Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours before finally bringing it under control. Officials said the timely response prevented the fire from spreading to nearby factories, which could have resulted in even greater loss.
Shahnawaz, a factory worker who lives on the premises, said he first noticed smoke rising from the furniture section. He tried to douse the flames, but the fire intensified so quickly that the entire warehouse was reduced to ashes in moments.
Factory owner Ashwani Kumar said goods worth nearly ₹40 lakh were destroyed. He described the incident as a devastating loss, saying his family’s only source of livelihood had been reduced to rubble. He strongly suspects the fire was caused by a short circuit.
Councillor Gursewak Singh Golu expressed grief over the incident and urged the government to provide financial assistance to the affected owner. Meanwhile, the police and fire department have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
