Bharuch (Gujarat)— A devastating boiler explosion at a chemical company in Gujarat’s Bharuch district left three people dead and 24 severely injured, officials said on Wednesday. The incident occurred at the GIDC industrial estate in Saikhya village, where the plant of “Vishal Pharma” suffered an intense blast that triggered a large fire.
According to district authorities, the explosion was powerful enough to cause collateral damage to four nearby factories. Firefighters were alerted by local workers, and six fire-tender teams responded promptly to bring the blaze under control. Some of the injured remain in critical condition.
Saikhya village sarpanch Jayveer Singh accused the company of operating without the necessary clearances and claimed that local authorities had ignored repeated warnings. Workers and nearby residents say rescue teams laboured throughout the night, removing debris and searching for any missing staff trapped inside. Officials confirmed that several employees were unaccounted for, raising fears that the death toll may rise.
An eerie atmosphere of panic has gripped the surrounding area as investigators begin examining the plant’s safety protocols, checking for any systemic faults in boiler maintenance or industrial compliance.
