Saran, Bihar – Tragedy struck a family in Bihar’s Saran district when the roof of their old house collapsed late Sunday night, killing five members, including three children. The incident occurred around 9:45 pm at Manas village under the Akilpur Police Station limits, officials said on Monday.

Saran SSP Kumar Ashish confirmed that a police team rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information and recovered the bodies from the debris. “Five members of the family, including three children, died in the roof-collapse incident. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination,” he said.

According to locals, the house was more than three decades old and had developed severe structural damage over the years. They claimed the roof gave way while the family was asleep, leaving them trapped under the debris before help could arrive.

Police officials said the process of identifying the deceased was underway. All relevant documents have been sent to the district administration for compensation to the victims’ families, SSP Ashish added.

The area, which falls under the revenue district of Patna, has seen several such incidents in recent months due to weakened structures and poor maintenance of old residential buildings.
