New Delhi: A man identified as Asif Qureshi, a cousin of Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi, was allegedly murdered following a heated argument over a parking issue in the Nizamuddin area of South Delhi. The incident occurred late Thursday night, prompting immediate police action.
According to Delhi Police, the altercation began when a neighbour allegedly parked a scooter in front of the victim’s residence, leading to a confrontation. The dispute escalated quickly, and in the chaos that followed, Asif was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Following the incident, law enforcement officials registered a case of murder and launched an investigation. Two individuals have since been taken into custody in connection with the case. Authorities have also recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the attack.
“We have arrested two persons linked to the incident and recovered the weapon used. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact sequence of events,” a senior police official stated.
Actor Huma Qureshi, known for her roles in critically acclaimed Bollywood films, hails from the national capital. She spent her formative years in Delhi before moving to Mumbai to pursue her career in cinema. Her father, Saleem Qureshi, is a prominent figure in the city’s culinary scene and runs the well-known Saleem’s chain of restaurants. Huma is also an alumna of Gargi College, University of Delhi.
As news of the incident spread, condolences poured in from various corners, with many calling for stricter enforcement to prevent such street-level violence from spiraling out of control.
