Tarn Taran: In a historic move, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has deployed a record 12 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to maintain peace and security during the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election scheduled for November 11.

Given the constituency’s sensitive border location, the ECI has classified the area under the highest security category. Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C announced that this is the largest-ever CAPF deployment for any by-election in India. The security arrangement, finalized in coordination with ECI-appointed observers, covers all 114 polling station locations and 222 polling booths across the constituency.

To ensure transparency, each polling station will be equipped with CCTV cameras and live webcasting. The footage will be monitored in real time by the Returning Officer, District Election Officer, and Chief Electoral Officer, under ECI supervision. Additionally, 46 micro-observers have been assigned to monitor critical polling stations closely.

The CEO assured that all Assured Minimum Facilities (AMFs) have been provided at every booth and issued a strict warning against any attempts to disturb law and order. He also encouraged residents to come out in large numbers and vote freely without fear.

Polling will be held on Tuesday, November 11, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., under what officials describe as one of the most stringent security arrangements ever made for a by-election in Punjab.
