Tarn Taran: In a move aimed at encouraging maximum voter participation, the District Magistrate of Tarn Taran, Rahul (IAS), has announced a paid holiday across the constituency on November 11, coinciding with the by-election for Assembly Constituency 021-Tarn Taran.

The directive covers all government and private offices, banks, factories, shops, and commercial establishments within the constituency. Employees on shifts or working outside the area but listed on the local electoral rolls will also be eligible for the holiday.

District Magistrate Rahul emphasized that the leave is intended solely to facilitate voting and clarified that it will not affect salaries. “Our goal is to ensure that every eligible voter has the opportunity to cast their ballot without any work-related constraints,” he said.

The holiday has been declared under provisions of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, Representation of the People Act, 1951, and relevant state labor laws.

Residents of Tarn Taran have been urged to participate actively in the democratic process. The by-election results are scheduled to be announced on November 14, 2025.

This move comes alongside other election-related restrictions, including a 72-hour ban on rallies and public gatherings, to ensure free and fair polling in the constituency.
