New Delhi — Newly elected Rajya Sabha member and renowned industrialist Rajinder Gupta was sworn in as a Member of Parliament on Wednesday in New Delhi. The oath was administered by Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan in the Parliament House. Gupta took the oath in his mother tongue, Punjabi.
Rajinder Gupta, 68, is the Chairman of the Trident Group and was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha last month. He is widely regarded as one of India’s leading industrialists, having transformed Trident into a globally recognized conglomerate with business interests spanning textiles, paper, energy, and chemicals.
Beyond his corporate achievements, Gupta is also known for his philanthropic work, focusing on healthcare, education, skill development, and employment generation, particularly for rural youth and women.
His induction into Parliament marks the beginning of a new phase in his public life, where his expertise in industry and innovation is expected to play a vital role in shaping national policy and contributing to Punjab’s economic growth.
