New Delhi— Air India announced on Tuesday that it will operate a relief flight to bring back passengers of flight AI174 (San Francisco–Delhi), which was diverted to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, due to a suspected technical issue.

According to the airline, the ferry flight AI183 is scheduled to depart from Delhi today and will return with the affected passengers on Wednesday morning.

“Air India, in coordination with Mongolian authorities and the Indian Embassy, has been ensuring the comfort and safety of all passengers and crew,” the airline said in a statement. The spokesperson reiterated that passenger safety and well-being remain the airline’s top priority.

The diverted flight had made a precautionary landing in Ulaanbaatar earlier this week after the crew reported a possible technical snag mid-air. All passengers were safely disembarked, provided meals, and accommodated in local hotels while alternative arrangements were made for their return to India.
