Washington: US President Donald Trump’s aircraft, Air Force One, was forced to return to Joint Base Andrews shortly after departure on Tuesday evening due to a technical concern, the White House confirmed.
According to press secretary Karoline Leavitt, the flight crew detected a small electrical malfunction soon after takeoff while the plane was en route to Switzerland. As a precautionary measure, the decision was made to head back to base to ensure safety.
Officials stressed that the issue was minor and posed no immediate threat, but standard protocol required the aircraft to be inspected before continuing the journey. Upon landing, President Trump is expected to transfer to a different plane to proceed with his scheduled visit.
The president is set to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, where global leaders and business executives are gathering for discussions on economic and geopolitical challenges. The brief delay is not expected to affect his participation in the high-profile event.
