Naqvi, who also holds the portfolio of Pakistan’s Interior Minister, accused the governing body of applying unequal standards, pointing to the hybrid hosting model previously approved for Pakistan’s matches in Colombo.
According to media reports, the ICC has made it clear that a unilateral withdrawal from the global event would invite firm consequences. Among the punitive steps under consideration are a freeze on Pakistan’s bilateral cricket engagements, exclusion from upcoming Asia Cup tournaments, and coordinated restrictions on issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for Pakistani players seeking to participate in overseas leagues — a move that could directly impact the Pakistan Super League.
