Chandigarh: Cricketer Shubman Gill on Tuesday voiced his anguish over the widespread devastation caused by floods in Punjab, saying his thoughts and prayers are with the families who have been affected.

Taking to social media platform X, the Indian opener shared that he was “heartbroken to see Punjab devastated by floods”. He added that the spirit of Punjab is resilient and that the state will emerge stronger from the crisis.

“Punjab will always be stronger than any adversity, and we’ll rise up from this. My prayers are with all affected families. Standing strong with my people,” Gill wrote.

The young batter’s message comes at a time when several districts in Punjab are reeling under heavy rains and flooding, leading to large-scale displacement, property loss, and damage to infrastructure. His words have struck a chord with fans and citizens, many of whom appreciated his support and solidarity during the crisis.

Authorities across the state continue to carry out relief and rescue operations, urging residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert and follow safety advisories.
