Chandigarh – Punjabi singer Ranjit Bawa has stepped forward to support families affected by the severe floods sweeping across Punjab. During his recent concert in Alberta, Canada, Bawa announced that he would donate the entire earnings from his show to help flood-affected residents.
During the performance, Bawa also showed a video highlighting the devastation caused by the floods in his home state. He told the audience, “My state is going through a major crisis, and I want to contribute by donating the full proceeds from this show to assist those in need.”
The floods have impacted nearly nine districts, including Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Kapurthala, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Moga, and Barnala. Over 1,018 villages have been affected, with massive agricultural losses reported. Fazilka district alone has seen 16,632 hectares of farmland submerged, while Kapurthala, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Pathankot, and Hoshiarpur have also suffered extensive crop damage.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with the Army, NDRF, SDRF, BSF, state administration, and Punjab Police actively involved. Ranjit Bawa’s donation is expected to provide relief and aid to many families struggling in the wake of the floods.
