Malerkotla: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann joined Eid celebrations in Malerkotla, visiting the local Eidgah to extend greetings and share in the festive spirit with members of the Muslim community.
After the prayers, the Chief Minister conveyed his wishes for peace, prosperity and unity, highlighting the importance of festivals like Eid in strengthening social harmony. He remarked that the atmosphere at the Eidgah reflected a strong sense of togetherness, with people coming together in a spirit of compassion and brotherhood.
During his visit, CM Mann also made a key announcement regarding development in the region. He said the state government would soon initiate the construction of a medical college in Malerkotla, aimed at improving healthcare facilities and educational opportunities in the district. He added that multiple development initiatives are already underway to boost infrastructure and public services in the area.
Local MLA Mohammad Jamil-ur-Rahman welcomed the Chief Minister and emphasised the significance of Eid as a festival that fosters unity and reconciliation among people.
Earlier in the day, large numbers of devotees had gathered at the Eidgah from early morning to offer prayers, marking the occasion with traditional fervour. Many attendees described the celebrations as a reflection of communal harmony, with people greeting one another and sharing the joy of the festival.
The Chief Minister’s visit, coupled with the announcement of new development projects, added to the significance of the day for residents of Malerkotla, reinforcing both festive cheer and hopes for future growth.
