Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was discharged from hospital on Thursday after undergoing treatment earlier this week. He has returned to the official Chief Minister’s residence and is expected to participate in the concluding ceremony of the Kila Raipur Rural Olympics in Ludhiana later today.
Mann had been admitted to Fortis Hospital Mohali on Monday after his health condition worsened.
The health scare occurred on February 15, coinciding with Maha Shivratri, when the Chief Minister visited Shri Rangeshwar Mahadev Shiv Temple in Dhuri, Sangrur, to offer prayers. He was accompanied by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and senior party leader Manish Sisodia. The leaders performed rituals and a havan at the temple.
Following the religious visit, Mann reportedly felt unwell. His planned tour of Fazilka was cancelled, and he was taken to Mohali for medical evaluation. Though he later attended a rally in Moga on February 16, his condition again deteriorated, leading to his hospitalisation the same day.
During his stay, several senior officials and party leaders visited him. Punjab’s Chief Secretary and Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav met the Chief Minister to inquire about his health. AAP general secretary Baltej Pannu and Manish Sisodia also visited him at the hospital.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Mann, Sisodia said the Chief Minister’s condition had improved considerably and that he was recovering well. He refrained from commenting on speculation regarding a possible cabinet reshuffle.
Security arrangements were heightened as Mann’s convoy departed from the hospital following his discharge.
With his health restored, the Chief Minister is set to resume official engagements, beginning with the closing ceremony of the Kila Raipur games.
