Ludhiana: A tragic road accident late Thursday night claimed the life of 22-year-old Sahil Sharma, a resident of Benjamin Road near CMC Hospital. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Shingar Road, just outside Ashok Kirana Store.

According to eyewitnesses, Sahil was returning home from work on his motorcycle when the mishap took place. While overtaking a car, his bike slipped, causing him to lose control and collide with the vehicle. In the impact, Sahil fell near a stationary trolley parked by the roadside. The trolley driver, who reportedly restarted his vehicle without noticing Sahil’s fall, ran over him with the rear wheels. The young man died instantly due to the severe injuries.

Locals immediately alerted the police. Teams from Shingar Police Station and Division No. 3 rushed to the spot, seized the body, and shifted it to the civil hospital for post-mortem. The trolley driver initially fled the scene but was later apprehended by police.

Family members were devastated after receiving news of Sahil’s death. Relatives recalled that he had celebrated his birthday only two days earlier. Employed in the marketing division of a factory, Sahil was known to be a hardworking youth who supported his parents and brother.

Eyewitnesses Kamal Sharma and Davinder Singh confirmed that the accident unfolded within seconds, leaving no chance for bystanders to intervene. Residents have urged authorities to improve road safety measures on the busy Shingar Road stretch, citing frequent accidents in the area.
