Ludhiana: A late-night road accident in Ludhiana’s Dugri area caused panic after a moving car overturned while trying to avoid a collision with a vehicle that allegedly pulled out abruptly from the roadside.
According to initial accounts, an i20 car traveling along the main Dugri road lost control and flipped over when a parked Creta unexpectedly entered the lane without warning. The sudden manoeuvre reportedly left the i20 driver with little time to react, leading to the accident.
Rohan, who was behind the wheel of the i20, said he was returning home when the incident occurred. As his car approached the stationary vehicle, it allegedly accelerated onto the road without any signal. In an attempt to prevent a crash, he swerved, but the car overturned due to speed and loss of control.
The impact left the vehicle severely damaged, with its front portion and roof crushed. Passersby rushed to the spot and helped pull out the two occupants trapped inside the wreckage. Despite the extent of the damage, both youths escaped with minor injuries, reportedly due to the timely deployment of airbags and sheer luck.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with a large crowd gathering shortly after the accident. Locals provided immediate assistance and informed the police.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Creta fled the spot after the incident and is currently being traced by authorities. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact sequence of events and identify the individual responsible.
