Jalandhar: A tragic incident has come to light from the Khurla Kingra area of Jalandhar, where an 18-year-old youth, identified as Rajan, allegedly died by suicide under suspicious circumstances on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Preliminary reports suggest that the young man ended his life at his residence following a heated social media dispute that escalated over the past 48 hours. The victim’s family has alleged that Rajan was being subjected to persistent death threats by two individuals prior to the extreme step.
The situation reportedly took a dark turn when a group of 10 to 12 armed youths, led by an individual named Akash, forcibly entered Rajan’s home. According to the victim’s mother, the group initially assured her they only wished to speak with her son. However, they allegedly coerced Rajan into a humiliating act, forcing him to fall at their feet and beg for forgiveness. The family claims that the group even recorded a video of this forced apology, which deeply traumatized the teenager and led him to take his own life shortly after the confrontation.
Jalandhar police reached the spot immediately after receiving information about the suicide and have initiated a formal investigation into the matter. Officers have recorded the detailed statement of Rajan’s mother and are currently analyzing digital evidence, including the victim’s phone and social media interactions, to identify all members of the mob that entered the house. The body has been taken into custody for a post-mortem examination as part of the legal proceedings.
The incident has sparked outrage in the local community, highlighting the dangerous real-world consequences of online conflicts and the menace of “mob justice” culture. Family members are demanding the immediate arrest of Akash and his associates, accusing them of abetment to suicide and criminal intimidation. Police officials stated that they are conducting raids to apprehend the suspects and are committed to ensuring justice for the deceased youth and his grieving family.
