CBI Raids Patiala Property Dealer’s Home in Suspended DIG Bhullar Case

Patiala: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday carried out a search at the residence of Bhupinder Singh, a well-known property consultant and owner of BH Properties, in connection with the ongoing probe against suspended Ropar Range DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar.

The raid began early in the morning around 7:30 a.m. at Bhupinder’s Moti Bagh residence in Patiala. According to sources, the operation continued for several hours, with CBI officials barring anyone from entering or leaving the premises during the search. Local police were deployed outside the house to maintain order and security.

CBI Links BH Properties to Ongoing Probe

Investigative sources said Bhupinder Singh’s name surfaced during the interrogation of the suspended police officer and from certain documents recovered during earlier CBI searches. However, the agency has not issued an official statement detailing what was found during Monday’s operation.

A senior police officer confirmed that the CBI team was acting on specific leads. “We were informed after the CBI entered the premises. Our personnel were stationed outside to assist with security during the search,” the officer said.

BH Properties is a well-known real estate firm with several projects across Patiala and Mohali. The company and its owner are believed to have connections with senior bureaucrats, political figures, and police officials in the region.

Background of the Case

The raid comes just a day after a Mohali court dismissed a petition filed by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) seeking custody of DIG Bhullar in a disproportionate assets case, calling the plea “infructuous.” The CBI had termed the VB’s move as an attempt to interfere with its ongoing investigation.

DIG Bhullar, currently under suspension, was arrested by the CBI on October 16 in an alleged ₹8 lakh bribery case. Subsequent searches at his homes and properties yielded staggering recoveries, including ₹7.5 crore in cash, 2.5 kilograms of gold jewellery, 26 luxury watches, two premium cars, 100 litres of liquor, and property documents for 50 immovable assets.

While the CBI claims these assets were acquired through corrupt practices, Bhullar’s lawyer insists they represent ancestral wealth and legitimate family holdings.

Multiple Investigations Underway

Over the past two weeks, Bhullar has found himself at the center of multiple probes. Four separate cases — under the Prevention of Corruption Act, Excise Act, and two disproportionate assets FIRs (one each by the CBI and VB) — have been registered against him.

Monday’s raid in Patiala marks the latest development in the widening investigation, as the CBI expands its focus to individuals and firms allegedly linked to Bhullar’s financial network.

Officials say the findings from the Patiala raid could play a key role in tracing the money trail and determining whether Bhupinder Singh or BH Properties played any role in managing or concealing assets connected to the suspended DIG.
