Amritsar: A fierce encounter broke out between Punjab Police and criminals in Amritsar when the accused opened fire using weapons they had hidden earlier. The police personnel narrowly escaped the attack, while both assailants were injured in the retaliatory firing. They were immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment.

According to officials, the two accused had earlier been involved in a shooting incident in Amritsar in August and had managed to escape. The police later arrested them from Karnal, Haryana.

During the investigation, it was revealed that both criminals are linked to Punjab gangster Jivan Fauji’s network. Authorities believe they were active in the area on behalf of this gang and have been involved in several previous crimes.
