Amritsar: In a major breakthrough, the Amritsar Police have dismantled a cross-border narcotics smuggling network, apprehending two operatives and recovering a consignment of 7.63 kg heroin along with ₹21,800 in drug money. The arrests were made following an intensive investigation into the supply chain operating across borders.

Preliminary findings suggest that the accused were in regular contact with a Dubai-based handler through virtual numbers. The handler allegedly coordinated the heroin consignments, directed pickup locations, and managed further supply networks. Investigations revealed that the same handler is linked to multiple narcotics syndicates and a major NDPS case involving the seizure of 43 kg of heroin.

The case has been registered at Chheharta Police Station, Amritsar, under the NDPS Act, with police continuing to probe the forward and backward linkages of the network.

Punjab Police emphasized its unwavering commitment to curbing narco-terrorism and drug trafficking, reinforcing efforts to maintain a safe and drug-free Punjab.
