Amritsar – Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni has directed officials to immediately release compensation for families whose homes were completely destroyed in the recent floods and for those who lost their lives, ensuring relief reaches victims without delay.
Chairing a meeting with officials in Ajnala, the DC stressed that rehabilitation and relief measures had already begun. She instructed the District Revenue Officer to coordinate with SDMs and other authorities for timely disbursal of compensation and supplies, while making sure no eligible citizen is left out.
Sahni also emphasized the urgent need to curb waterborne and vector-borne diseases in low-lying areas where stagnant water remains. She ordered various departments to carry out preventive steps without delay, including fogging operations and sanitation drives.
To tackle potential outbreaks, the Health and Panchayat Departments have been asked to deploy rapid response teams to conduct door-to-door surveys in high-risk areas. The DC also instructed that essential medicines, diagnostic kits, and sufficient hospital beds be made available. She further directed officials to keep close watch on reported cases from health centers and submit status reports.
District authorities have already begun implementing these measures, delivering relief supplies and fodder for livestock to affected villages, while also launching preventive health operations on the ground.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners Rohit Gupta (General), Amandeep Kaur (Urban Development), and Paramjit Kaur (Rural Development), along with SDM Amritsar-1 Gursimran Singh and senior officers from health, revenue, food, and panchayat departments.
