Balotra/Chhatarpur: A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Rajasthan’s Balotra district where a woman and her three young children were discovered dead in a water tank located in an agricultural field near Panotri Nadi village.
According to police officials, preliminary findings suggest that Mamta, aged 32, allegedly drowned her two sons and a daughter before taking her own life by jumping into the same tank. The grim discovery was made on Thursday morning after the family had been missing since earlier that day.
Authorities stated that the alarm was raised by Mamta’s mother-in-law, who began searching for the family when they could not be found at home. Her search led her to the field, where she noticed her daughter-in-law’s slippers near the tank. On peering inside, she saw the bodies floating in the water and immediately informed the police.
Police teams arrived at the scene shortly after and recovered the bodies. “The cause behind the extreme step is yet to be determined. We are investigating all possible angles,” a senior officer said.
In a separate incident in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district, a 25-year-old man, identified as Rajesh Mishra, allegedly died by suicide in a hotel room under the Kotwali police station limits. Initial inquiries suggest he had been in deep distress following the recent death of a cousin in a road accident.
Police said Mishra was found with a gunshot wound on Tuesday morning. “Early investigation indicates that emotional trauma may have driven him to this act, though further inquiries are ongoing,” officials added.
